Rose Brooks Center has provided comprehensive domestic violence services for women and children in Greater Kansas City for 30 years. In 2008, Rose Brooks Center will celebrate 30 years of rebuilding, reclaiming, and saving lives.
In 1978, the family of Rose Brooks donated her home in Kansas City, Missouri, to a coalition of women who wanted to help women who found themselves in violent relationships. Within 24 hours of opening its doors, the 19-bed shelter was full. Today, Rose Brooks Center serves close to 10,000 women and children each year. Rose Brooks Center's mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence. The Center's continuum of care includes innovative prevention programming, crisis intervention, and supportive services, and we are committed to changing lives damaged by domestic abuse.
